A Little Bit About Me
Hello, nice to meet you! If you hadn't guessed already, I'm petegrev, a graphic designer, photographer and artist from the United Kingdom, situated near East Sussex and West Kent. If you'd like to find out more about me and what I do, read on...
Writing about myself and why I do what I do isn't an easy task for me. I think that's why I love design, illustration, art and photography so much... because I'd much rather show you something, than try to explain it.
I design and take photographs of everything and anything. My work is mostly a collection of items that interest me or ideas that randomly pop into my head. I love seeing the beauty in everyday objects and the world right under our noses, the things we usually miss or take for granted. This is probably why I enjoy macro photography so much. There's something fascinating about seeing a subject in a whole new light, or capturing it in a way that you never thought possible. The ordinary can be beautiful too.
From a very young age, I have always been interested in photography and art. Whether it was drawing, painting or taking blurred photographs, you could usually find me trying to do something creative. For my 8th birthday my parents bought me a book on photography, along with a little red camera. For the next few years I used this camera to take photographs every now and again, although they normally ended up being of holidays I went on and seem to be mostly of dolphins. As I got older I became more serious about photography and design. The turning point was when I got my very first digital camera. From that moment on, I realised how much I enjoyed taking photographs.
Even though I have never studied or taken any courses in photography or design, I have always pursued it as a hobby. I feel if you are truly passionate about something the best way to learn is to get out there and do it. I have also met some extremely talented people along the way who have taught me a great deal.
Most of my work is taken in and around East Sussex and West Kent in South East England, although some are from further afield when I'm lucky enough to visit other amazing places. As cliché as it sounds, there is so much beauty all around us. When you take the time to notice things you might normally pass by, you realise how incredible the world is, even right on your doorstep.
Please have a look around my site and view my work, it's the best way to figure out what I do! If you have any questions, would like more information or simply want to get in touch, then do not hesitate to contact me.
